19th century, Africa
The shells are fabulous African trades shells with gorgeous patina and shape. Once upon a time Jewels might have been able to make several of these necklaces a year but now the real old ones, like these, are vanishing. Khadija in our Marrakech studio formed and stitched the leather to perfection. She is a master at anything she does with her hands and can figure out any challenge Jewels poses to her in a design. This masterpiece is also pure tribal chic.
