Tribal people all over the world are resourceful. They create objects of beauty and cultural value with material available, be it gold, glass or plastic. The amulets of this fabulous necklace are products of this resourcefulness among the tribal people of Mauritania. Like the Hopi who used old tires and resin to create amulets of thunderbirds, these stylized hamsas (hand of Fatima) are made using old cowrie shells, plastic and faux leather. One or two might be real leather. The amulets are on our finest hand woven cord.
