Early 19th century or before, Naga, NE India
A beautiful hand cut and embellished shell from the Naga people, not too long ago closed off from the rest of the world. Jewels visited Nagaland in the early 1980s just as they opened their borders and began her collection of the most spectacular shells, beads and amulets. We made a woven cord for this and then stitched Italian leather over the cording. This is true artisanship with fine details. It’s cool and elegant.
