19th century, Mauritania, NW Africa
This shell, hand cut and etched 100+ years ago to be worn in the hair has incredible presence, patina and wear. The sterling is the superb work of our silversmith, Jacob. He set the shell perfefectly in sterling sheet, keeping the shape and curve which hugs the finger so comfortably. Modern art was inspired by work of the people, folk art, and this ring is a pure example of both.
One of a kind
Shell: 1 1/8 x” 7/8″
Ring size: 7.5
A word abot the photography. It’s terrible! The good news is this piece, all of our work in fact, is so much better than the images convey. The silver is clean and bright and the shell is also bright, smooth with wear.
