Mid 20th century, Morocco
Jewels has had this wonderful piece in her stash for over 30 years. She decided the edges needed to be a bit cleaned up so she had the silversmith put a small sterling frame around it. She also designed the very cool sterling tube and link chain.
The central square contains Arabic numbers in a pattern resembling a “magic square”. According to folk beliefs it is thought to be for protection from the evil eye or envy. The text on the sides are verses from the Quran.
