19th century, China
Sometimes the Chinese penchant for decoration is over the top but this piece has just the right amount of restraint while perfectly whimsical. Someone else, long ago, thought so too and loved it so beautifully giving us a gorgeous work of art with unmatched patina. Notice, the double fish heads! The fish is a siymbol of good fortune and plenty.
We wrapped sterling on the lock bar and attached to our hand hammered sterling chain, also quite killer!
