Mid 20th century, Berber Morocco
Handiras are traditional clothing, worn as capes, of the Berber and are superbly woven incorporating several techniques. Very often a woman would weave one to be worn the first time at her wedding. This piece is in very good condition. The colors are weather worn on one side and handles are missing though these would have been replaced over time as you can see on this piece handles had been placed on both sides
