Monstrance Adornment

19th century, sourced in Spain
This beautiful object of silver and gold wash was probably an adornment of a Monstrance or Ostensorium (a Roman Catholic receptacle) but was then worn as body adornment.  This piece is a wonderful mix of folk art, the two figures that appear to have come from the “New World”  and classic imagery.   Jewels found two (similar) pieces in Spain and keeps one for herself.  She chose the a propos sterling chain.
