19th century
This is breathtaking in simplicity. These white glass beads, the central piece from Mali and the others African trade, have the beautiful patina of adoration, wear and time. So while all white there are the subtle changes that give this piece such beauty and depth. We wove the cord between each bead, a tour de force in design and work that took three days to complete. The luminescence shows best when worn, as on the model.
One of a kind
Necklace length: 23″
Central bead: just short 1 x .5″
A note about our woven cords. We weave these by hand, every one of them. Like all Jewels’ work no two are exact, as each of us. The work is labor intensive. When warmed to the skin the cord becomes more supple, conforms to the wearer, hangs at it should; the necklace transforms more than just a necklace. It becomes her.
