19th and early 20th century, Morocco
Some of the most gorgeous and unusual petit French made glass faceted beads traded in Morocco coveted and collected. The petit headdress charms, gold foil and gold washed over metal, are classic and wonderful Berber (Amazigh) from Tata, a town in Central Morocco, once upon a time known for its jewelry. All the beads and charms have the worn, wear and patina Jewels seeks. We wove our very finest cord for this necklace.
Glam, ma’am!
One of a kind
A note about our woven cords. We weave these by hand, every one of them; the work is labor intensive; like all Jewels’ work no two are exact, as each of us and how things should be. When warmed to the skin the cord becomes more supple, conforms to the wearer, hangs just right; the necklace transforms more than just a necklace. It becomes her or him. This is the Slow Jewelry Movement.
