These are pure tribal, pure folk art. Like the Hopi, like all tribal people around the world, the Berber use whatever material is available: tires, old records, faux materials.
These amulets are made with very old, beautifully worn cowrie shells and faux leather.
And yes, they are stylized hamsas (hands of Fatima), amulets to ward off the evil eye.
