Mid 20th century, Essouira, Morocco
These high karat gold medallions are collected, worn and saved for their children and a rainy day by all Moroccans- and Jewels. This one is such a lovely size and will layer with just about everything. It is common to see the six pointed star on these medallions as well as may Moroccan coins. Like the cross this is an ancient symbol. In Islam it is the seal of Solomon. The center is the eye of God who sees everything. For Tibetans the six pointed star represents balance, something we could all use from time to time.
We backed it with riveted sterling sheet.
One of a kind.
Medallion: Just over 1.5″
